How Many Counts?

If we could make a list of all our sins today, and then make a list of all sins committed for every day we have lived on earth, with how many sins have we been charged? If you  haven’t taken Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you have that many counts against you! You will be judged “guilty” on all counts by the Judge of all! On the other hand, if you have truly surrendered your life, in repentance and faith, to Jesus as your Savior and Lord, all charges have been dropped! How is that possible? Because Jesus took your place, and suffered the penalty for everyone of those counts! Because of His saving grace, you are cleared of all charges! “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him” (Romans 5:6-9). It was His death on the cross that made the offer of full and free pardon able to be offered to “whosoever will.” Refusing the pardon leaves one responsible for all counts against him or her, and the just penalty will be their fate forever! For those pardoned, they can sing from the heart the lyrics in Margaret J. Harris’ hymn: “He Took My Sins Away.” In her words: “I came to Jesus, weary, worn, and sad, He took my sins away, He took my sins away. And now His love has made my heart so glad, He took my sins away, He took my sins away. The load of sin was more than I could bear. He took them all away, He took them all away, He took them all away. And now on Him I roll my every care, He took my sins away. No condemnation have I in my heart, He took my sins away, He took my sins away. His perfect peace He did to me impart, He took my sins away. If you will come to Jesus Christ today, He’ll take your sins away, He’ll take your sins away, and keep you happy in His love each day, He’ll take your sins away. He took my sins away, He took my sins away, and keeps me singing every day! I’m so glad He took my sins away. He took my sins away.” Selah! Those who come to Christ are completely forgiven. Have you come? If you have, rejoice! Your record is cleared of all charges against you!   Ron

  1. yes, pastor ron, “tetelestai” is the past tense, as in He did indeed,
past tense, “took” my sins away…
‘Adonai also continues, in the present horrible reality of sinfulness,
    to take my sins away….
oh, for eternity when it (sin) will be all gone for ever….
