After the Elections

We have a responsibility to make an informed vote. To have a voice in who will lead us is a privilege unknown in too many countries. Vote for Godly leaders, if possible; if not, try to identify and vote for moral/conservative leaders. However, once these men and women take office, those of us who know Jesus as Savior are to respect authority and obey the laws (except when we have to obey God rather than man [and take the consequences]). We are to pray for our leaders. Remember to thank God when we get good leaders. When we get bad leaders, we still honor them (respecting their office). Then we can pray and work to get better leaders, next time around. The “bottom line” is that God is still in control and His will and plans will triumph. Our part is to let Him work with and through us. He is the only One Who has the ultimate answers to humanity’s sin. Let’s be a “part” of the answers but not part of the problems! We are to be “salt” and “light.” Salt adds flavor and preservation to life; Light brings God and His Truth before the eyes of men. “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, (do) all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by “Him” (Colossians 3:17). Take us as we are, O God, and claim us as your own. As once you chose to tell your love in human flesh and bone, so let our lives be used to make your saving purpose known. Bless us for your service, Lord; no power we devise will ever give us strength enough or make us truly wise, yet by your promise we can know the peace your grace supplies. Break us open to disclose how brokenness can heal, wherever broken loaves suffice to give a crowd a meal and graves break open to release new life from death’s dread seal. Give us to the world you love, as light and salt and yeast, that we may nourish in your name the last, the lost, the least, until at length you call us all to your unending feast.” (“Take Us As We Are, O God”-By Carl P. Daw). Selah! In God we trust! May we be salt and light!   Ron
