Today’s Taste Treat

As we taste different portions of this one-of-a-kind Spiritual fruit, we can’t escape the wonder of it. Today’s treat is too seldom enjoyed. Instead, we fret and “stew.” Worry, stress, fear discouragement, etc. take our eyes of this fruit and we focus on the problem rather than the Problem-Solver. We need to focus on Him Who loves us so much that He died for us. Once we experience the new birth and begin to walk in relationship to Jesus as our Lord and Savior, His love is lavished on us and we intensify our love for Him. This fills our hearts with gratitude and we experience great joy. This combination of love and joy, when internalized in us brings wonderful peace to our hearts and lives. Galatians 5:22 includes this part of the fruit: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace.” God’s Word is sometimes spoken of as His Law and the Psalmist reminds us: “Great peace have they which love Thy Law: and nothing shall offend (stress, upset) them.”  Hymnwriter Anne S. Murphy’s, “Constantly Abiding,” gives musical testimony to this wonderful peace: “There’s a peace in my heart that the world never gave, a peace it cannot take away; though the trials of life may surround like a cloud, I’ve a peace that has come here to stay! All the world seemed to sing of a Savior and King, when peace sweetly came to my heart; troubles all fled away and my night turned to day, Blessed Jesus, how glorious Thou art!” Selah! Think on this “right on” reminder from The Institute in Basic Life Principles: “Daily Cares are loving reminders to arrange our priorities around times alone with God.”        Ron
