A Perfect Filter

How can we escape the snare of the devil? In II Timothy 2:24-26, Paul’s instruction to young Timothy shows the way of escape: “And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all (men), apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; and (that) they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.” Did you notice the part that speaks of “repentance to the acknowledging of the Truth?” If people will go to their Bibles, with hearts open to God’s Truth; if they receive Jesus as Savior and Lord; if they faithfully study and apply Scripture, they will find that they have a guaranteed perfect filter. It will separate Truth from error. It will expose snares, such as deceit, a God-less worldview, pride, selfishness, hypocrisy, sinful lusts and much more. A working knowledge of God’s Word will shine a very powerful beam on what Satan hopes that he has adequately camouflaged. God-less education will be exposed and our minds, emotions and wills can be increasingly filled with God’s worldview. The Word of God, the Holy Bible, is the voice of God speaking to the hearts of men! Think through Rev. J. B. Atchinson’s hymn, “Holy Bible:” “Holy Bible! book divine, light and Life in ev’ry line; light for all who Christ receive, Life for all who will believe. Holy Bible! Book of Truth! Only guide for age and youth; all who search are sure to find, rest of soul and peace of mind. Holy Bible! Book of God! for mankind the only code; All its laws we must obey, Heed its precepts day by day. Holy Bible! Spirit’s sword! Story of our blessed Lord; chart to guide me to the skies, where awaits the glory prize. Holy Bible! Blessed Book! Now by faith to thee I look; open thou my eyes, O Lord, to the wonders of Thy Word.” Selah! Bring God’s Word to bear on all attempted input from whatever source and reject all that isn’t in harmony with its precepts and principles.   Ron
