Religions Vs. The Bible

All (or most) religions have some good in them. All (or most) have some sincere and moral people in them. As has been pointed out in some previous articles, there is a huge difference between religions and true Biblical Christianity. It’s not only that  a religion is a composite of certain beliefs and teachings; it is that authentic Christianity is a relationship. However, it goes deeper than that. Religion is founded on man’s beliefs and teachings. True Christianity is the result of believing and personally responding to God’s inspired revelation. It is receiving Jesus as Savior and Lord. When one does that, a miracle of Spiritual rebirth takes place and a relationship is begun that lasts forever! The basis is not man’s ideas, but what God has revealed. Religions have books, beliefs, and teachings; genuine Christianity has the inspired Word of God to us. It is a supernatural book that has never been wrong and has enjoyed a miraculous preservation, transmission, endurance, and power to radically change lives. It is the voice of God speaking to the hearts of men. The origin of religion is men’s ideas; the provision of a personal relationship with God is based on what Jesus did on the cross. Proverbs 14:12 warns us: “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof (are) the ways of death.” It would be the height of folly to risk our eternal souls on what seems right, instead of on God’s revealed Truth. God, through Jeremiah, the prophet, pinpointed the obvious contrast between men’s teachings and His revealed Word: “The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath My Word, let him speak My Word faithfully. What (is) the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD” (Jeremiah 23:28). Consider these verses that ring with understanding. They come from Haldor Lillenas’ hymn, “The Bible Stands!” “The Bible stands like a rock undaunted ‘mid the raging storms of time; its pages burn with the truth eternal, and they glow with a light sublime. The Bible stands like a mountain tow’ring far above the works of man; its truth by none ever was refuted, and destroy it they never can. The Bible stands and it will forever, when the world has passed away; by inspiration it has been given, all its precepts I will obey. The Bible stands every test we give it, for its Author is divine; by grace alone I will expect to live it, and to prove it and make it mine. The Bible stands tho’ the hills may tumble, it will firmly stand when the earth shall crumble; I will plant my feet on its firm foundation, for the Bible stands, the Bible stands.” Selah! Religious foundations will collapse; God’s Word stands the tests of time and eternity.   Ron
