Healed without Technology

Mark 7:24-30 gives us an account of a wonderful miracle and teaches us a vital truth: “And from thence He arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but He could not be hid. For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of Him, and came and fell at His feet: the woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought Him that He would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. And she answered and said unto Him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs. And He said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.” First, this mother trusted Jesus! She knew He could help. Next, she came to Him to receive help. Following that, she passed Jesus’ test of her faith. In humility, she continued to appeal to Him and her faith was rewarded. (See Hebrews 11:6). Without modern technology, Jesus healed her daughter over a distance. What can we draw from this? Jew or Gentile, when we trust Him for salvation, when we ask for it in prayer, when we will to trust and refuse to waver, Jesus hears and responds and heals us Spiritually, no matter where we are or what our circumstances might be. “The trusting heart goes singing, whatever may betide, to Jesus’ promise clinging,  Redeemer, Friend, and Guide. The trusting heart is ready to do the Master’s will, with purpose true and steady, His bidding to fulfill. The trusting heart with gladness receives all heav’nly gifts; in days of grief and sadness, the song of hope it lifts.” (“The Trusting Heart Goes Singing“-by Julia H. Johnston). Selah! True faith always brings salvation; it provides needs (and sometimes “wants.”). It gives strength and comfort in trials, when our faith is being tested.   Ron

  1. There are many people with “ailments” and “almost unbearable pain” over which the medical profession seems bewildered. There are several women in our church like that – and have been for years. Many prayers have been offered up for them. It seems they are being tested like Job.
