No Storm Damage

Life threatens to overwhelm us at times. Often, it’s an emotional trial. Sometimes it’s physical danger. Death may be near at hand. Nevertheless, He hasn’t abandoned us. There isn’t a trial but what He can take us through it and bring us beyond it! One instance of great physical danger is recorded in Mark 4:35-41: “And the same day, when the even was come, He saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took Him even as He was in the ship. And there were also with Him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And He was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and  they awake Him, and say unto Him, Master, carest Thou not that we perish? And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And He said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?” They feared for their lives! Jesus, in three Words, rebuked the storm and it obeyed. But what if it hadn’t? In that event, they would be with Jesus forever, in His home and perfected! However, the Words of God quieted the storm and trusting His Word can quiet the storms in our lives today. His fellow passengers were astonished at what He did and people are often amazed today when God does a work in our lives! In the hymn, “Peace! Be still!” By Mary Ann Baker, we can identify with her trust and find peace in the storms of life. She wrote: “Master, the tempest is raging! The billows are tossing high! The sky is o’ershadowed with blackness, no shelter or help is nigh:  “Carest Thou not that we perish?”  How canst Thou lie asleep, when each moment so madly is threat’ning a grave in the angry deep? The winds and the waves shall obey Thy will. Peace, be still! Peace, be still! Peace, be still! Peace, be still!  Whether the wrath of the storm-tossed sea, or demons, or men, or whatever it be, no water can swallow the ship where lies the Master of ocean and earth and skies; they all shall sweetly obey Thy will!  Peace! Peace! be still! Selah! We’ll reach safety here and/or over there, if He is our Savior and Lord. Nothing can separate His loved ones from Him!   Ron
