Relating with Calmness and Love

Being human, we irritate others and others irritate us. However for a child of God, there is a God-given response that we should make. We are to be patient! Starting with trusting God, realizing that He loves us, and loving Him in return, we experience joy. Trusting, loving, being filled with joy brings peace, because we are at peace with God. We can be patient (longsuffering) with others, because God has been patient with us. There is another type of patience that we can also experience. We can patiently suffer long, knowing that God has a loving purpose in what He allows, even if we can’t understand that purpose. God is concerned when we have problems to face; He is even more concerned that we respond rightly to our problems. (Read Paul’s response to his problem, in II Corinthians 12:7-10). He explained God’s working to the Roman believers: “….we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope: and hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” (From Romans 5:3-5). Responding properly to suffering refines us, spiritually. Edgar Page Stites understood. This is clear from his hymn: “Trusting Jesus.” He wrote: “Simply trusting every day, trusting through a stormy way; even when my faith is small, trusting Jesus, that is all. Singing if my way is clear, praying if the path be drear; if in danger for Him call; trusting Jesus, that is all. Trusting as the moments fly, trusting as the days go by; trusting Him whate’er befall, trusting Jesus, that is all!” Selah! Whatever we suffer, Jesus has suffered. His response brought a great victory; as we mature in trust, our right response can be a wonderful victory in our lives.   Ron
