What is the Reason for Holiness?

Becoming holy isn’t an end in itself! God wants us to be holy, so He first credits us with holiness and then starts the work of making us holy. However, it is not so that others can admire or respect us because we are becoming holy. It is that God will be honored and glorified! It is that He can take “the likes of us” and release His reflection through us. To God be the glory! Another way of putting it is so that Jesus will be seen in what He accomplishes in and through us. It is that people will want Him to be seen in them, as He is seen in us. When we manifest His holiness, He is “lifted up.”  In John 12:32, Jesus said: “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me.” He was lifted up on the cross; He is to be lifted up in our lives! if we are born again, we want Him to be glorified, regardless of any cost to us. Charles W. Naylor gave us this hymn, “To God Be the Glory,” in which he gives us reasons to show forth God’s glory: “To God be the glory for all He hath done; for life and salvation, the gift of His Son. To God be the glory, to Him it is due;  His help is unfailing, to us He is true. Though I was a captive, from sin He did free; in time of affliction my healer is He. To God be the glory, His mercy extol, for all He doth give us, for body and soul. To God be the glory, rejoice in His name; To God be the glory, forever proclaim!” Selah! How does God make us holy? Jesus prayed in John 17:17 “Sanctify them (make them holy) through Thy Truth; Thy Word is Truth.” As we study, apply, and obey His Word, looking to Him for direction and guidance, holiness will be the outcome!    Ron

  1. Thank God for His holiness that He shows through us. All glory goes to Him. Thanks for reposting. I thought I was experiencing Deja Vu all over again! Blessings yo the Pinkham family.
