There’s A Great Day Coming!

Daniel spoke prophetically of four great kingdoms that would rule: Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece, and Rome. All four have faded into history. While Rome as a kingdom no longer exists, its influence and impact is still widespread. However, Daniel also revealed the coming of a kingdom that would take over the entire planet. This is how he was inspired to describe it: “And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever” (Daniel 2:44). Preliminary to the ultimate Kingdom is the millennial kingdom of Jesus (His 1000 year reign on this earth). When history has run its course, the ultimate Kingdom will come. Speaking of Jesus, in I Corinthians 15:24, Paul wrote: “Then cometh the end, when He shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when He shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.” Now, the point of all this is that only those who have received salvation through the death of Christ on the Cross, will be a part of this ultimate kingdom. Will L. Thompson’s hymn, “There’s a Great Day Coming,” warns us of how important it is to be ready: “There’s a great day coming, a great day coming, there’s a great day coming by and by; when the saints and the sinners shall be parted right and left, are you ready for that day to come? There’s a bright day coming, a  bright day coming, there’s a bright day coming by and by; but its brightness shall only come to them that love the Lord, are you ready for that day to come? Selah! Earthly kingdoms end; God’s kingdom endures forever! Colossians 1:13 contrasts the kingdom of darkness with the kingdom of His dear Son. The only time we can be sure of becoming a part of Jesus’ kingdom is “now!” If you haven’t done so, receive Jesus as Savior and Lord while you can! Tomorrow may be too late!   Ron
