Evicting the Intruder

There is an enemy that frequently intrudes our thoughts and renders us unable to function as God intended. We are overcome by these thoughts and needlessly enslaved. This kind of thinking eats away at us, leaving us crippled and miserable. The worst part of it is that we don’t need to be a victim; the intruder can be evicted. That is, this enemy can be evicted if we are born again, if we have a personal relationship with Jesus as Lord and Savior. This enemy’s weapon is fear! Our Spiritual birthrights include freedom from fear. Fear is a subtle form of unbelief. How is that possible? It is because God has showed us how to be free from fear and we think that what causes us to fear is insurmountable. We don’t see how we can deal with whatever we fear. We don’t really believe that God can or will be able to help us; we think we have to figure it out and we don’t know how to handle our problem. God says, through the Psalmist: “What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee” (Psalm 56:11). Proverbs 29:25 reminds us: “The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.” Elsewhere, we learn: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (II Timothy 1:7). There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love” (I John 4:18). We need not fear death, nor judgment for sin(s). We can have freedom from all causes of fear, if we are operating on Scriptural principles! Avis B. Christiansen’s hymn, “Precious Hiding Place,” offers these encouraging words: “With His nail-scarred hand He bro’t me to the shelter of His love; of His grace and will He taught me, and of heav’nly rest above. Tho’ the night be dark around me, I am safe for He is near;  never shall my foes confound me, while the Savior’s voice I hear. Precious hiding place,  precious hiding place, in the shelter of His love; not a doubt or fear, since my Lord is near, and I’m sheltered in His love.” Selah! When His children follow His Guidelines (His Word), He assumes responsibility for their protection and problems, freeing them from fears.   Ron
