The “Presence” of God

Do we even begin to grasp what the “Presence” of God means to one who is born again? The sad truth is that we act more like He’s only a force, an influence, or simply a wonderful idea. How insulting to the amazing self-disclosure of God to His redeemed children! For those who know Jesus as Savior and Lord, God dwells in us! God’s home, His temple on this earth, is in us! We have been Spiritually baptized into His body, the church. Paul, in Colossians 1:27, speaks of “…. Christ in you (us) the hope of glory.” This is Deity abiding in, at home in, born again human beings! It doesn’t stop there! Paul goes on in Colossians 2:9 to add this astonishing amplification: “For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” Furthermore, we are in Christ! He dwells within and we are buried with Him in baptism. (See Romans 6:4). To top it off, “For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God,” so wrote Paul by inspiration in Colossians 3:3. That, my careful reader, is the reality of intimacy with God! We who are saved have a deeply personal relationship with our Almighty Creator! Georg Weissel gave to his hymn the title: “Lift Up Your Heads,” in which he gave us this fitting prayer: “Redeemer, come! I open wide my heart to Thee: here, Lord abide! Let me Thy inner Presence feel: Thy grace and love in me reveal.” Selah! Let Him cleanse His temple daily with the washing of water of water by the Word and cleanse us in His precious blood!   Ron
