The Concept or the Reality?

We, who are born again, love the Lord. However, there is a danger!  We can agree to the importance of loving the Lord and because of agreeing, we assume that we do love Him. Agreeing that loving Him is what any Christian does, does not mean that we actually do love Him! We can agree with the concept without enjoying the reality! By extension, this can apply to many things about a believer’s life. Do we really love the Word? Do we really love God’s people? Do we really value prayer? Are we thrilled with our enjoyment of His Presence, and so on? Or, are we simply in agreement with the concepts? Until we can go beyond accepting that these are things are true of Christians (and actually experience them for ourselves) we will never grasp the wonder of salvation! The concepts are right but until we personally experience them, our spiritual lives may be dull, boring and ineffective. Knowing Him personally and fellowshipping with Him is a beyond amazing privilege for all who know Him as Savior and Lord. There’s a huge difference between knowing truth and actually internalizing it. Paul was inspired to pray that, “….Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.” (From Ephesians 3:17-19). As our knowledge becomes experience, we will know the joy of the Lord! Thoro Harris gave us the hymn, “All That Thrills My Soul,” and in it he reveals the wonder of knowing Jesus in experience: “Who can cheer the heart like Jesus, by His Presence all divine? True and tender, pure and precious, O how blessed to call Him mine! Love of Christ so freely given, grace of God beyond degree, mercy higher than the heavens, deeper than the deepest sea. What a wonderful redemption! Never can a mortal know how my sin, though red like crimson, can be whiter than the snow. Every need His hand supplying, every good in Him I see; on His strength divine relying, He is all in all to me. All that thrills my soul is Jesus, He is more than life to me; and the fairest of ten thousand in my blessed Lord I see.” Selah! We need God’s Truth to fill our hearts with wonder, love and praise!   Ron
