The Synagogue of Satan

Satan has many counterfeits. One is in the area of the church. Jesus told the Philadelphian Church in Revelation 3:9 about phony Jews. He wrote: “Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold , I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.” Paul was inspired to  warn the Church at Corinth of a similar counterfeit.  We find it in II Corinthians 11:13-15: “….such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” These false teachings and teachers run the gamut from cults and “isms” to false religions to liberal churches. They deceive many and will come to a dreadful end. Our only protection is a working knowledge of and obedience to the Word of God. Because the Philadelphian Church had some commendable Spirituality, Jesus assured them that these counterfeit Jews would be brought low before the true church of Christ. It’s not straining the application to any great extent to expect the same conquest of Truth over error by a Spiritual church today. This is a church that is Spirit-taught, doctrinally literate, discipling and correctly applying Scripture. We need churches like that today, more than ever! A fitting prayer would be one like that found in, “Renew Thy Church, Her Ministries Restore,” by Kenneth L. Cober. He prayed: “Renew Thy Church her ministries restore: both to serve and to adore. Make her again as salt throughout the land, and as a light from a stand. Mid somber shadows of the night where greed and hatred spread their blight. O send us forth with pow’r endued: help us, Lord, be renewed.” Selah! Is your church like that? If it is, praise God; if it isn’t, God can use you to bring renewal. God can use a single Christian who is serious about pleasing Him to bring revival. You could be that one!   Ron
