The Ark and US

The significance of the ark cannot be overstated. In today’s article, I’d like to focus on one aspect of the ark event. Eight people escaped drowning in the flood waters because they believed what God told Noah. Eight is the number of new beginning. Because they went into the ark they were safe. God shut them in! The waters of God’s judgment were on the outside. How fascinatingly that pictures what happens today! Multitudes reject or ignore God’s Word today and perish under God’s judgment. Some believe and enter into Christ, Who is their ark of safety. They receive Him as Savior and Lord and are born again. Peter, in I Peter 3: 20-21, tells us that: ….eight souls were saved by water, the like figure whereunto baptism doth also now save us.” Water baptism is a visual illustration of what happens Spiritually. Believing God, people flee from “the wrath to come.” When that happens they are supernaturally baptized into Christ (I Corinthians 12:13). They are immersed into His body, the church; they are in God’s Spiritual ark of safety; they are “in Christ!” They have a new beginning! Just as the “pitch” in the ark kept the waters of judgment out, so the atonement keeps God’s judgment outside His ark of safety, Jesus!  What that sacrifice on the Cross has accomplished! In the second stanza of “Grace greater Than Our Sin,” Julia H. Johnston explains in eloquent simplicity: “Sin and despair like the sea waves cold, threaten the soul with infinite loss; grace that is greater, yes, grace untold, points to the refuge, the mighty Cross.” Selah! Noah’s ark came to rest on a purged earth; our ark will come to rest on Heaven’s shores! If you haven’t done so, make sure you are in it! Jesus is “The Door!”  Ron
