Scan or Probe?

Scan or probe? A taste or a meal? A dime or a fortune? Doesn’t the answer to these questions seem obvious? Why is it then, that we can approach the Word of Almighty God as if it were a spiritual fast food menu? No one who is serious about discipleship can settle for a quick passing exposure to Scripture. We need to “dig in,” to invest quality time savoring every bite of God’s feast. Above all, we need to feast on the Word itself. However, there are things that can be added to a nourishing meal that bring out the rich tastes. Books, tapes, CDs, DVDs, messages, Bible Studies, music, good study tools, etc. by people who have really been used by God can help us to enjoy the meal even more. A well digested, Biblically nourishing meal will produce spiritual health and vitality. Can you imagine someone seriously searching for treasure by shooting a quick glance around, while preoccupied with countless distractions. No, it requires research, work, time, energy, discernment, etc. You will be blessed beyond measure, if you don’t just nibble little bites of God’s Truth but round your plate over with a well balanced meal. “Thy Words were found, and I did eat them; and Thy Word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of my heart….” (From Jeremiah 15:16). Selah! It’s intensely rude and offensive when God is talking to us and we pay little attention to what He is saying, because our thoughts are occupied with other things. We need to give Him our undivided attention and hang on His every Word.   Ron
