A Matter of Two Minds

There is the mind with which we are born. Then, there is a Spiritual mind given to the saved.  There are two kinds of human beings. Paul explained this to the Corinthian Church. In Chapter 2:14-15, he speaks of the natural man, those that have not been born again. Then, he refers to the Spiritual man, those that have been born again. All humanity falls into one of those two categories. The natural man’s mind functions on a physical, intellectual level. This natural mind cannot understand Spiritual things. When we are born again and His Life enters our inner being, the Holy Spirit starts us on a life-long journey of gaining more and more understanding of Spiritual Truth. The Bible comes alive to the saved person. As our minds are being transformed (Romans 12:2), we come to see life from God’s point of view. We learn to respond in His ways. This is foreign to the natural man. Paul explains to the church in Rome, “For to be carnally (naturally; fleshly) minded is death; but to be Spiritually minded is life and peace” (Romans 8:6). This is why Paul admonished the Philippians to, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5). God’s Word reveals the mind of Christ to the Spiritual man. The opening stanza of Kate B. Wilkinson’s hymn, “May the Mind of Christ My Savior,” gives voice to the earnest prayer of the Spiritual man, “May the mind of Christ my Savior live in me from day to day, by His love and pow’r controlling all I do and say.” Selah! Search your mind; if your appreciation of and appetite for Spiritual things is strong, that is the normal bent of the Spiritual man. If you are not vitally interested in the things of God, you are likely Spiritually dead.  Ron
