A Date with Destiny

Everyone has a destination. However, there are two destinations. One is to be forever separated from God! Most are headed in that direction. Shouldn’t that grieve us deeply?  Others, not as many, are moving in the opposite direction. The climax of their journey is Heaven. Shouldn’t that generate intense excitement? The reality seems to be that no matter which direction, most people appear to take it all in stride. What will it take to break up the spiritual status quo? There is more! Those headed in the direction of Heaven have something even more wonderful awaiting them; more wonderful than Heaven itself. Their destiny is to be like Jesus! Just think that through! “For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son.” (From Romans 8:29). Philippians 3:20-21 provides further insight, “For our conversation is in Heaven; from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body.” And John adds, “….when He shall appear, we shall be like Him.” (From I John 3:2). If we are born again, we could experience all of this at any moment. Think what that transformation will mean! Thomas O. Chisholm, prayed in his hymn, “O to Be Like Thee!” These were his words, “O to be like Thee! while I am pleading, pour out Thy Spirit, fill with Thy love; make me a temple meet for Thy dwelling, fit me for life and Heaven above. O to be like Thee, blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art! Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness-stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.” Selah! Here we start; there we are completed! If this doesn’t move us deeply, something is seriously wrong!   Ron
