No Other Explanation!

There are things that are only adequately and correctly explained in one place. There have been many attempts to explain things, by scientists, atheists, educators, philosophers, theological liberals, friends, books, movies, etc. After all is said and done, no one but God can give a satisfying and accurate explanation of reality. Take, for example, life. Where did we come from, why are we here, where are we headed? What is the purpose of life? Is there existence beyond the grave? All human explanations end in death. “Poof!” That’s it! Or, at best, there may be something beyond the grave; but what? Ideas range from terrifying to nice. But, no one really knows, except God. “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 16:25). Let’s imagine someone who lives a noble, moral, unselfish, kind and useful life. He has a wonderful family, makes important contributions toward the betterment of mankind, lives in a wholesome environment, has many material things, loves and is surrounded by beauty. Then he dies! What then? Being the kind of person that he was, most people would say (if there is an afterlife), he will be rewarded and accepted. Wrong! Only God can tell us how we can be accepted and rewarded. Man’s ideas only seem right. God has given us all that we need for life and faith in the Bible. Understanding from all other sources are feeble attempts by creatures to understand what only the Creator can explain and He always gets it right! Consider these thoughts from Anna Olander’s hymn “If I Gained the World, “If I gained the world, but lost the Savior, were my life worth living for a day? Could my yearning heart find rest and comfort in the things that must soon pass away? If I gained the world, but lost the Savior would my gain be worth the life-long strife? Are all earthly pleasures worth comparing for a moment, with a Christ-filled life?” Selah! “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” Wise words from Jesus in Matthew 16:26!    Ron
