There is nothing casual about authentic Christianity. It is the most life changing experience known to a human being. For example, and this only scratches the surface, we, who know Jesus as Savior and Lord, are raised from spiritual death to Spiritual Life. We are taken off the road to Hell and are placed on the road to Heaven. We are changed from a child of the devil to a child of God. We are being saved from sin and developing holiness of life. There is much more, but we move on. How can we remain casual to all this? We humans are not casual about our favorite sports team. We are not casual about our love of a mate, if we truly love them. We are not casual about acquiring “things.” We are not casual about our careers, if we hope to get ahead. In fact, we are enthusiastic about much that will one day pass away. On the other hand, shouldn’t we focus our intensity on the things that won’t pass away? Can we really grasp the astonishing wonder of being in a personal relationship with our Almighty Creator through His Son, Who loved us and died for us? We can enjoy intimate fellowship, guidance, help, purpose, strength, comfort, trust, joy, peace, teaching, etc. What is there to not be excited about? “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him: rooted and built up in Him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving” (Colossians 2:6-7). The word “enthusiasm,” I’m told, comes from en theos which means “the god within.” We , who are Spiritually reborn, have “The God” within! In the hymn, “In the Service of the King,” Alfred H. Ackley gives us these thoughts, “I am happy in the service of the King….I have peace and joy that nothing else can bring, in the service of the King. In the service of the King, every talent I will bring. I have peace and joy and blessing in the service of the King.” Selah! Only deep, faithful, regular time in God’s Word can keep the fire burning within. It’s the only way we can cease being “lukewarm.”   Ron
