Untapped Source?

You are right in the middle of things and the power goes off. Things come to a standstill. You contact the power company. Electricity is restored! Now you have the power to accomplish things. Or your car is out of gas. Similar problem; no power. You fill the tank and there is power ready for use. We must be connected to the power source. There has to be power available. Now, what would you think of someone who was reconnected to power and just sat there and made no moves to use that power? Isn’t this exactly what many Christians do? We have the ultimate Source of power. If we know Jesus as Savior and Lord, the Holy Spirit stands ready to bring power into our lives. However, we often show no evidence of Spiritual power. Could it be, as A.W. Tozer suggested, that we are Trinitarians in creed only; not in actual experience. All we have to do is draw on His power! Where do we “plug in?” Scripture! How does that power look? Spiritual power and authority are closely linked. We submit to the authority of God’s Word; we trust the Holy Spirit to make the Truths of Scripture effective in our lives. When that is done consistently and constantly, we will see God’s power work in us and when we see that take place, we will be able to speak with authority to others. His powerful Word will impact other lives for salvation and for Godly living. Paul, under inspiration, taught with authority, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek” (Romans 1:16). The Holy Spirit activates the Word in us and then through us. “Channels Only” captures this reality very accurately, “Witnessing Thy pow’r to save me, setting free from self and sin; Thou Who bought me to possess me, in Thy fullness, Lord, come in. Channels only, blessed Master, but with all Thy wondrous pow’r flowing through us , Thou canst use us every day and every hour.” (Mary E. Maxwell). Selah! This can be our experience if we don’t short circuit the process by cutting the connection. We can also block the flow by clogging the channel with undealt with sin.  Ron
