Bucking the Tide

When the tide is against you, it requires a good deal of effort to “buck it.” There is a spiritual tide, especially in the western world, that is moving things toward the shoreline of compromise, indifference and meaningless habitual routine. Many make no resistance to the pull of the Laodicean tide. Do we have wimps or warriors? A warrior knows that he must engage in combat. A wimp is willing to lie down and be trampled on by a clever adversary. Are we willing to stand our ground and’ “….be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.” (From Ephesians 6:10)? For many, one wonders if they are ready to resist and “buck the tide.” It takes a serious and disciplined Christian to “….endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” (From II Timothy 2:3). If we are going to be serious and disciplined, there are some important steps that will prepare us for resisting the enemy. Obviously, we must be born again. We must obey our Commander-in-Chief. We must be properly clothed and equipped. We must know our enemy. We must have a plan to overcome his strategy. We must be in constant contact with Headquarters. In the U.S. Army, some had to be rejected for service because they were not “soldier material.” It is sad, indeed, that there are those who are not “soldier material in God’s Army! Selah! “Wimp” or “Warrior?” Are we up to the challenge? Or are we spiritual driftwood driven by the tide to the shore of defeat?   Ron
