Playground or Battleground?

I’ve been much burdened lately about what seems like passivity among many Christians. We try to be what a Christian should be and do what a Christian should do. However, there appears to be a lack. Where is the joy, the excitement, the fervency? Is the Christian life a playground? Are we just playing Christianity? Are we actively engaging with God in His Word? Are we “on fire” with zeal to know Him in reality and not simply intellectually? If not, why not? Shouldn’t He be our number one concern of each day? We are in a battle! We are under attack on a number of “fronts.” Instead of fighting off attacks, do we simply let the enemy demobilize us? Are we too busy to notice that we are under fire? Shouldn’t we mount some resistance, in God’s strength? Instead of allowing the enemy to establish beachheads in our lives, should we not take some of his territory? The need for mounting an offensive is huge! To do this, in a meaningful and effective way, demands that we start to take our responsibilities and opportunities seriously. If we are only playing at Christianity, let’s quit playing now and report for active duty! “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). Selah! We can give up and be a casualty or get busy and engage the enemy! Let’s give our Lord our “all!”  Ron
