A Good Crop

Good fruit is appreciated by most people. Good apples, oranges, etc. are a pleasure to taste and good for us. People go to the grocery store or super market and look for the finest produce. God wants His children to bear wonderful Spiritual fruit. Is it possible for a child of God to not bear fruit? The short answer is that it is not possible for a Christian to be without fruit. It may be only a little fruit; there may be some blighted fruit but there will be fruit. What would a good crop look like? Proverbs 11:30 tells us that, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” For the believer, the tree of life is the cross of Calvary. When the child of God is used to bring people to the cross, he or she is wise. The fruit is a new child of God. Then there is the fruit of the Spirit, “….love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.” (From Galatians 5:22-23). These are the fruit of Christ-likeness. As people are drawn to good produce, they are drawn to the One Who can make a sinner into this kind of person. Then there is the “….fruit of our lips giving thanks to His Name.” (From Hebrews 13:15). Gratitude is a fruit that encourages us, others and is valued by our Father in Heaven. Selah! If there is Life, there will be fruit. No fruit; no Life! “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me” (John 15:4). Spend time with Jesus and you’ll be fruitful!   Ron
